Sleeping/Not Sleeping Series, oil on canvas

 

During sleep, our cells repair, our muscles rest, the thoughts and images in our minds come to the surface, often in ways that defy reason. This series began with the painting Insomnia. Unplanned, it arrived on the canvas one day after a sleepless night. In this time of chaos and pain, missing sleep is a common experience. These paintings are a thank you note for every peaceful, undisturbed night of sleep experienced by every sentient being on this precious planet.
