HANDS, HEART AND MIND: A Self Active Education Experience

process for stimulating creativity using Recycle Materials and wooden blocks. Participants will experience PLAY as a child might and explore the development
of curriculum, based on PLAY.
3-D ART AND ASSEMBLAGES: An Interactive Workshop

Explore and discover the possibilities available with a variety of materials, including plastics, wood, fabric, wire, foam and more. Bobby’s approach inspires participants to relax, play, experiment and expand
their possibilities in creating art.
MAKING DRUMS: a community building experience
At this hands-on workshop, participants, working together, create unique and playable drums from Recycle Materials. Bobby provides technical assistance while coaching participants through the process. Participants should wear clothes that can get dirty. The process offers them the opportunity to work together and to learn from and about each other while sharing ideas and rhythms. The completed drums will represent the diversity of the group’s
creativity, cultural backgrounds and learning styles. Drums can be toolsfor teaching rhythms and patterns,
counting and other math concepts.

MAKING BOOKS
This workshop has a version for children and a version for teachers, parents and other adults. The children’s workshop may respond to the need to create books to hold stories the children have already written, or they may construct books that will inspire them to write. The books we create will range from simple fold and tie books with punched holes to more elaborate books with decorated fabric covers. The practical applications of this process are language development skills, ability to follow story line, understanding of how books are created, incorporation of children’s activities, questions, behaviors, etc. Adults may construct scrapbooks or journals. Teachers and parents may want to make story books to read to children. People of all ages find creating a book
to be an extremely satisfying experience.
MASK MAKING WITH RECYCLED MATERIALS
Using a variety of Recycle Materials, participants will create wonderful, weird and unique masks, or replicas of familiar masks. Students may build their masks inspired by special qualities of animals or people that are important to them. Or they may build masks that allow them to take on completely different personas. Making masks develops problem- solving skills, working cooperatively and expanding creativity. Mask and Dance Workshop:The mask workshop can have an added component – using the masks in a dance piece. Bobby’s wife Joan will work with participants to develop a dance piece, using the qualities or personas that each mask expresses.
