JOAN AND BOBBY share a passion for making art and a conviction that art-making can be a path to self-discovery, change, community and peace. They are artist-educators who value opportunities to share their passion with children and adults. They offer workshops together and separately. They are members of NoCA, North Cambridge All Arts Organization, exhibiting in annual Cambridge Open Studios and elsewhere. They are married, and live with their dog Ivy
JOAN GREEN is a visual artist (watercolors, oils, collages, drawings) and dancer (choreographer, performer and teacher). Joan is the artistic director of Back Pocket Dancers, an inter-generational ensemble.
BOBBY BROWN is a visual artist, making masks, jewelry, cloth wall hangings, sculptures and assemblages, often including recycled materials and found objects. Bobby is also a skilled art installer.
HOPE FOR HAITI
Joan's high school art students at Codman Academy Charter School in Dorchester, MA created an outdoor public art piece reacting to the phenomenal earthquake that devastated Haiti in January 2010. Click below to see a short cable news clip interviewing the students about the project.
